Lasit Performing Arts is a one stop shop for all your Arts education and resources to pursue a professional career as an actor, singer, or screenwriter.

PURPOSE

To introduce people of all ages to the realm of theatre, film & TV, and vocal/choral training, giving them self-confidence and discipline which are needed to audition for various shows, and to master the craft of performance. The training we provide will not only make students stronger performers, but build upon their ability to work with others through cooperation, teamwork, and trust. All these skills are helpful in every aspect of our lives. Our goal is to give acting and vocal classes which are challenging, exciting, and will enrich your life. There is no need to travel to Boston for quality training.

CHORUS CLASS - Cape Children’s Chorus: Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm. All classes are currently held at St. John’s Church Hall at 159 Main Street, Sandwich, MA. 02563 Students will participate in various warm up activities and games to strengthen their vocal cords and listening skills. Choral students will learn vocal techniques and learn songs as an ensemble for a concert in December and in June. Ages: 7-15 years old (Stay tuned for a teen chorus class and adult community chorus in the future!) All Classes are held in the church hall in the back of the church, so when you arrive, please come around the right side of the church towards the backyard, and you will find a glass door on the left to enter into a hallway towards the church hall. On the first Thursday of the month, the chorus class will be held in the main sanctuary. TUITION: $80.00 (4 classes) per month per class, with some months that have more weeks, and some months with less weeks due to holidays. (10% Holiday discount for the month of January.) Please pay by cash or check made out to Lasit Performing Arts. Online payments are currently not available. Payment is due on the first class of each month (payable in advance).

CHILDREN'S ACTING CLASS: Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm. All classes are currently held at St. John’s Church Hall at 159 Main Street, Sandwich, MA. 02563 Children’s sessions are on-going and paid monthly. $80 per month. (10% holiday discount for January classes.) Through theatre games, improvs, scene work, monologues, and puppetry, students will grow more confident as they participate in group, and individual activities, in a fun and safe environment. This class will also cover a brief section for film and television. We will also have a performance for parents at the end of December and in June. Ages: 7-16 years old FILM & TV ADULT SCENE STUDY: Mondays from 6:00-8:00pm. All classes are currently held at St. John’s Church Hall at 159 Main Street, Sandwich, MA. 02563 (6 week session.) Session beginning January 6th, 2025. $175 for six week session. (10% holiday discount for January session.) The adult scene study class will focus on analyzing human behavior through performance. 12-14 students max. Students will alternate filming a scene with a partner. Students who don’t film one week will perform a mock audition, and then return the next week to be filmed. All material is from movies and television shows. (There are a few more seats remaining for the January 6th Session.) One FREE audit available for new students.

•Half an hour lesson: $40 per session. ($36 with Holiday discount of 10% off. Holiday discount is good for 4 lessons.) • Hour private lesson: $75 per session. ($67.50 with Holiday discount of 10% off. Holiday discount is good for 4 lessons.) Private lessons are ongoing, and a student can stop lessons at any time. There is no contract. I am also flexible with having a lesson once a week, or every other week, during the day or evenings, and possible weekend sessions. Once we chat, we can figure out what works best for your schedule. One on one attention to break down scenes, monologues through table work analyzing human behavior in order to reveal a more truthful, impactful performance. • Six-week package of private sessions which costs: $450, ($405 with Holiday discount of 10% off) Private lessons also available for voice, and piano. -Voice and Piano lessons for a half hour: $35.00 per lesson. -Voice and Piano lessons for a hour: $70.00 per lesson. Private lessons are held at the Lasit’s home. As of right now, private lessons are held on Mondays, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings. Please contact the Lasit’s for availability.

If you ever need to be filmed in high quality for an audition, I can help you with that as well. The actor will come in prepared; I will set up the lights, any backdrop needed, and then edit the audition into the proper format to be emailed to the casting director/client. FEE: $100

Kevin Lasit is an optioned screenwriter and has worked with producer Brian Frankish (Field of Dreams & Stuart Little) and actor/director Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Stand and Deliver). Kevin has studied with Robert McKee, Michael Hauge and Pixar. Many of his scripts have placed in the finals in national screenwriting contests, and he was a judge for the Woods Hole Film Festival Screenplay Competition.

Meet the Team

Melinda and Kevin Lasit have a combined 60+ years of experience in the arts

MELINDA lASIT ~Vocal/Choral Teacher and Director

Melinda has her BA in Music/Vocal Performance from Cal State East Bay, and her MA in Music Education from Bridgewater University. Melinda has been teaching for over 30 years in the public school system as a choral/music teacher and vocal director for the theatre department, and at the same time, has been teaching voice and piano privately for over 30 years as well. Melinda got her start in choral music at a young age performing with the San Francisco Girls Chorus, and was so inspired wanted to continue her lifelong journey in choral music and vocal performance. Melinda taught and vocal directed alongside Kevin Lasit at The Academy for the Performing Arts, and also vocal directed at Newark Memorial High School Theatre department and Choral department. She has built choral music programs at Newark Memorial High, Forestdale Elementary and Sandwich Middle High School. Melinda has also been an accompanist, worship leader/singer, and music director at various churches in California and here on Cape Cod. She was music director and wedding singer at Santa Paula Church in Fremont, CA for twenty years, and accompanist and interim Music Director/Worship leader for First Church for a few years. 
Melinda teaches and leads with heart and a full belief in a supportive, warm, caring environment for a student to feel valued and cared for to grow as a performer and as a human being.

Kevin has 35 years of experience in the industry and has been on national television shows, such as, Midnight Caller on NBC, Nash Bridges on CBS, Castle Rock on Hulu, America’s Most Wanted on FOX.  Kevin has also appeared in commercials for Sam Adams, Bank of America, DCU, CT Lottery, and MA Tourism, to name a few. Kevin has trained in many techniques from Meisner, Stanislavsky, Uta Hagen, the Alexander Technique, Viewpoints, puppetry, and physical movement with Images in Motion. Kevin's film & TV training is diverse as well, and he has studied with Ed Hooks, Terry McGovern, and Mali Finn. Kevin has optioned one of his screenplays and is working with producer Brian Frankish (Field of Dreams) and actor/director Edward James Olmos. He has studied the craft of storytelling from the best, such as: Robert McKee, Chris Vogler, Michael Hauge, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird and Syd Fields. Kevin started out as an actor, but then branched out to directing plays and writing screenplays shortly after completing a ten year tour with Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theatre Programs in CA. After years of exposure to many diverse techniques to tell stories, Kevin is proud to say he has created his own approach to discover the truth on stage and in film. His method works with children to adults. Many of Kevin's students are currently working in the industry. He has been training actors from the west coast to the east coast for decades and has helped thousands of actors discover their truth. Kevin will be publishing his first book in 2025, Moments of Truth, about directing, communicating with actors, and balancing the artist's lifestyle. Part of Kevin's philosophy is in order to make impact on stage and screen, it's more important to make positive impact in one's life first.
