Walking into 2012!!!

Life is about moments.

Art… good art, is about moments.

An artist tries to find a way to connect with the world, and through this journey, the artist connects to an audience, the artist then connects to the hearts of the people… the tribe, making them feel something.  This is what compels me to continue to work in the entertainment industry, for that intimate connection with humanity, to find purpose, the connection.

As the year comes to an end, I can’t help but feel grateful for all the people, connections, and the events of this past year which in turn has brought to life my creative purpose.   The connections I have made with other people to further my growth has given me such inspiration and clarity.  There are many moments of this past year that will remain in my mind and heart, but one moment in particular will forever be etched into my soul… the time I spent in Los Angeles this past September.  This trip was amazing on so many levels.  Personally and professionally I grew from this trip.  I grew in “life” and I grew in my “art.”  That’s what remains important with this ongoing journey of my life… to continue to grow as a person first, and then in turn, as an artist.  There is no difference between your real life and your art.  It’s the same thing, an extension of your life.  Your fears.   Your desires.   Your hopes.  Your dreams.

If you’ve been following my blog, you know by now what my dream is… to sell a particular screenplay.  Yes, it’s been a long journey and it will remain a long journey.  Nothing comes quickly or easy.   This particular story has taken me eleven years and 28 drafts to get to this point where the script is bulletproof, and who knows what will come. The producer I am working with is shopping the script around to his circle of friends.  I am embracing every moment, each step, and through my artistic journey, I am becoming a stronger writer, and my world, personally and professionally, continues to grow.   I am so grateful and feel so blessed.

I won’t go into much more detail at this stage, but let me just say this, I am having an amazing experience, and I am learning so much.  So, here’s to another year ending, and 2012 beginning, and I can’t wait to see what this New Year brings.    January and February may hold some exciting news for me regarding a screenplay competition as well, so stay tuned for more updates.

My wish is to continue to create more sincere moments with my beautiful family and through those authentic experiences my artistry will harvest those seeds of love and yield more creativity.

Happy New Year and write on!
